Privacy Policy

The short version: your modes, your app choices and your history never leave your phone. The only thing Unroam sends us is an anonymous crash report when the app fails, and you can switch that off.

Data stored on your device

Unroam keeps the following on your phone only: the focus modes you create, your paired Unroam Key (the identifier of its NFC tag), your session history, and your preferences such as theme and colours. Deleting the app deletes this data. You can also export or delete your session history inside the app at any time.

Screen Time (Apple Family Controls)

To block apps during a focus session, Unroam uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks with your explicit permission. Your app selection is handled by the system and stored on your device in a form Unroam cannot read or transmit. Unroam does not monitor your usage, does not collect Screen Time data and never uses it for advertising or profiling. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.

NFC

When you pair or tap a Unroam Key, the tag’s identifier is read on-device to start or stop your session. It is stored only on your phone.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends us a diagnostic report so we can fix the problem. A report contains technical details only: the error and where in the code it happened, the app version, your phone model and iOS version. It does not contain your modes, the apps or websites you block, your session history, any Screen Time data, or the identifier of your Key. We do not use crash reports to identify you or to follow you across sessions.

Crash reports are sent to an error-tracking server that we host ourselves in Germany. No outside analytics or advertising company receives them. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and we keep only a limited number of recent reports; older ones are deleted automatically. You can switch crash reports off at any time in the app under Settings, and nothing else in Unroam changes when you do.

Purchases

The Unroam app is free and contains no purchases or ads. The physical Unroam Key is sold separately through our webshop; that purchase is handled on our website under its own terms, outside the app.

Your rights (GDPR)

Everything you create in Unroam is processed only on your device, so requests to access, correct or delete it concern data that you already fully control. Crash reports carry no name, account or contact details, so we generally cannot link one to you; if you believe we hold data about you, or you want to object to crash reporting, contact us and we will help. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Children

Unroam is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process their data.

Changes

If a future version of Unroam ever changes what data is handled — for example an optional backup — we will update this policy first and ask for your consent in the app before anything changes.
